Guided Meditations on the Stages of the Path
Texts
This series of meditations uses How to Meditate on the Stages of the Path: A Guide to the Lamrim by Ven. Kathleen McDonald (Sangye Khadro) as the basis. DCI has limited copies of this book still available for adoption (while supplies last). The cost is $55 (Dharma Friend Monthly Contributors $53). Although it is optional, we highly recommend adopting a copy of this book to support your meditations on the lamrim (stages of the path). It also contains some recommended preparatory and concluding practices that we are using when leading these meditations at DCI.
We have also been using the short text How to Make My Lives Wish-Fulfilling: The Method to Transform a Suffering Life into Happiness. The pdf version of this text can be downloaded by donation from the FPMT Foundation Store (linked above).
These meditations are supplemented with other source material often from the teachings of Kyabje Lama Zopa Rinpoche, Lama Yeshe and His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Lama Yeshe Wisdom Archive (lamayeshe.com) is an excellent source of materials to support and enhance lamrim meditations (you can use the search function to find materials on specific Dharma subjects).
For those newer to meditation, Ven. Kathleen McDonald’s book How to Meditate is a modern classic that offers clear instructions on how to establish a daily practice, avoid common pitfalls and also gives excellent examples of a whole range of meditations found in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition.
